  • Pangdemonium is on a roll! THE RISE & FALL OF LITTLE VOICE has hit another home-run for the company. This must rank as one of Pangdemonium's most adventurous efforts. Mina Kaye is a revelation...her voice is simply stunning.

Directed by Tracie Pang, LITTLE VOICE is a well-executed production that scores in nearly every department.

    , Debbie Yong, Business Times
  • LITTLE VOICE is a wonderful production with a stellar cast, an impressive revolving set, great music, clever adaptation, and most importantly, an uplifting and triumphant story which warms the heart... Boy, have Pangdemonium nailed the casting this time.

If there’s just one reason to witness this production, it would be to see Mina Kaye take on the role of LV and seeing her transform from shy, quiet girl to magnificent diva...nothing short of extraordinary...one of those moments that remind you why you step into the theatre.

    , Buttons In The Bread
  • Goosebump-inducing moments in Pangdemonium’s wonderful new production THE RISE & FALL OF LITTLE VOICE......heartbreak of a story about finding and setting free one’s inner voice...wonderful adaptation by Adrian Pang...Kaye is simply perfect as LV...jaw-droppingly mesmerising...we don’t think it’d be too farfetched to say that in Kaye’s lead debut, a star is born. 4/5 Stars.

  • Pangdemonium has struck gold again. Producing one hit show after another is far from an easy task, and we’re constantly amazed by how Pangdemonium makes it look so effortless.

The powerhouse theatre company blew us away yet again with THE RISE & FALL OF LITTLE VOICE.

    , Popspoken
  • A rollicking celebration of music and freedom, this musical comedy is a star vehicle for young actress Kaye, who is quite the revelation as the gifted LV.

    , Corrie Tan, ST Life!
  • A Pangdemonium production not to be missed! A solid theatrical show. Congratulations to director and producer Tracie Pang - you have a vision which brings good (if not great), fun and entertaining theatre to Singapore.

  • Another feather in Pangdemonium's already very feathery cap. Mina Kaye turns in a truly great performance and steals the show.

The adaptation is delightfully clever...THE RISE & FALL OF LITTLE VOICE is another success for Pangdemonium!

  • Pangdemonium is really full of surprises! With LITTLE VOICE, they yet again prove why they are Singapore's most exciting theatre company: Director Tracie Pang again demonstrates her remarkable skills by drawing out knock-out performances from her cast. And Pangdemonium continues their campaign to provide platforms for young performers to shine - Mina Kaye is stunning. But LITTLE VOICE also represents a brand new challenge for Pangdemonium, tonally and stylistically, and they succeed beautifully.

It is wonderfully adapted to Singapore - a first for them, as they have refused to bow to pressure from blinkered individuals who insist on "localization", wisely avoiding transposing their previous shows to Singapore, until they found this perfect story to do so. Having made a name for themselves by bravely and successfully tackling gritty and difficult subjects, Pangdemonium is truly demonstrating their impressive breadth and range of repertoire by producing this superbly entertaining romp that is both laugh-out-loud and tear-jerking, with good old fashioned story-telling, larger-than-life characters, top-notch production values in every department, and ultimately a poignant and important message.

A wonderful theatrical experience. If you miss it, you've missed out!

  • To be totally honest, I wasn't sure how well this play would translate with a Singaporean cast, but my doubts were totally squashed after I watched the show last night.

I just want to congratulate you on an absolutely first class production. The actors were expertly and perfectly cast and the added Singaporean touches were hilarious. It completely exceeded my expectations and I'm so disappointed I didn't see it earlier so I could recommend it to all my friends.

Absolutely brilliant! Thank you for such a great night - you did Jim Cartwright proud!

  • Thoroughly entertained and impressed by the consistently strong performances from the cast and excellent production values. Watching Mina Kaye finally find her own voice in her cathartic final scenes will probably go down in my memory as one of the most triumphant scenes I've ever witnessed.

  • This show is nearly flawless, with fine writing, six terrific performances, another of Pangdemonium’s spectacular sets, and Mina Kaye really can sing those divas - and that is an evening of theatre in itself!

  • Do your heart some good and go see Pangdemonium's THE RISE & FALL OF LITTLE VOICE.

Laugh, cry and be in awe of some phenomenal talent.

    , Steve Lai

The Rise & Fall of Little Voice tells the story of a shy, reclusive girl named LV – or Little Voice (played by the extraordinary Mina Kaye) – and her larger-than-life, boozy, out-of-control mother Mari (Denise Tan). Desperately missing her dead father, LV spends her time locked in her bedroom listening to his old record collection and perfecting astonishing impersonations of famous divas including Shirley Bassey, Marilyn Monroe, Barbra Streisand, Edith Piaf, and Judy Garland…

When Mari starts dating sleazy, small-time “talent scout” Ray Say (Adrian Pang), she thinks he’s her chance for a better life. When Ray hears LV sing, he thinks she’s his ticket to the big time. Meanwhile, LV finds comfort and companionship in Billy (Shane Mardjuki), a young man who is just as socially awkward, and an oddball romance blooms. As showtime draws closer, the stage is set for LV’s stunning debut performance – and a showdown that will change everyone’s lives.

The Rise & Fall of Little Voice won the Laurence Olivier Award for ‘Best Comedy’, and the Evening Standard Award for ‘Best Comedy’, and was adapted into an acclaimed film. With a humorous and heartwarming story, colourful characters and wonderful music, this production will be the Asian Premiere of this very special show, and marks Pangdemonium’s first production set in Singapore!

  • This is precisely what I like about Pangdemonium productions – the way they bring to life the thoughts and emotions buried deep within us. Beneath every seemingly simple storyline lies a whole mishmash of themes, feelings, and social critique that you’ll be untangling for days or even weeks after the curtains close.

If you’re the sort who enjoys theatre that makes you think and feel a whole spectrum of emotions, you HAVE TO catch Pangdemonium’s productions.

  • FAT PIG is a play that demands to be seen... powerful... the perfect anti-romantic comedy... poignant, bracing and provocative... the drama is orchestrated expertly...

Tracie Pang has assembled a cast of young and relatively unknown actors, but each one throughly excels in his or her role... you're so transported, you forget it's a performance.

    , Helmi Yusof, Business Times
  • This play took my breath away...I went to the show not quite knowing what to expect, and emerged in complete awe...an incredible cast...Tracie Pang has performed many wonderful feats these past few years, but this - for me at least - is really one of her greatest achievements!

Once again, Pangdemonium! has done an excellent job in choosing a thought-provoking script and bringing it to vivid life through a stellar cast and expert direction...5 stars - DO NOT MISS!

    , Oh Jen Jen, JustWatchLah.com
  • Pangdemonium hits the ground running once again by kicking off the 2014 season with a prickly play called “Fat Pig”...a meaningful and well fleshed-out romantic tale about love in the midst of prejudice, played by a young but highly-competent cast, and with excellent and well thought-out production values.

It’s merely the start of the 2014 season, but it seems like Pangdemonium has picked up right where it left off last year, and there seems to be no stopping the juggernaut.

Cow. Slob. Pig. How many insults can you hear before you have to stand up and defend the woman you love?

Winner of the Outer Critics Circle Award for ‘Outstanding Off-Broadway Play’, and nominated for the Olivier Award for ‘Best New Comedy’, Fat Pig tells the story of Tom (Gavin Yap), a handsome, young professional who meets a sweet-natured, sexy, funny and intelligent girl named Helen (Frances Lee) – who just happens to be “plus-sized”. Tom finds himself irresistibly attracted to Helen and her refreshingly self-deprecating acceptance of the way people see her, and to his own surprise, he is soon head over heels in love with her.

But for reasons he cannot explain or even admit to himself, Tom finds it necessary to keep the object of his desires a secret from his friends.

His obnoxious best friend Carter (Zachary Ibrahim), and his on-off girlfriend Jeannie (Elizabeth Lazan), both become obsessively curious about Tom’s new, mysterious lover. As Tom and Helen fall deeper and deeper in love, and Carter and Jeannie get closer and closer to the truth, the course of true love is going to get messy – BIG time.

Directed by Tracie Pang, Fat Pig is a most unique “rom-com”: a laugh- out-loud-and-immediately-feel-guilty-for-laughing comedy of manners, a bittersweet love story, and a sly observation of our prejudices and taboos.

A motley crew of men come together to laugh about life, argue about women, and fight about everything else. Their comic high-jinks lead to a game of poker…except that for these men, poker is never just a game: for Stephen (Adrian Pang) poker is an obsessive power trip; for Sweeney (Daniel Jenkins) it’s a distraction from his domestic dilemmas; for Frankie (Keagan Kang) it’s an extension of his manhood; for Carl (Julian Low) it’s a hopeless addiction; for Mugsy (Andy Tear) it’s an escape from his loser’s life; and for Ash (Daniel York), it is his life…

What ace does Stephen have up his sleeve? What’s the dicey deal between Frankie and Sweeney? What’s the secret relationship between Carl and Ash? And what is it with Mugsy and toilets??? This seemingly innocent poker session turns into survival of the fittest, to find out who will outwit, outplay, outlast. And by the end of the night, as the delicate house of cards crumbles, the men are separated from the boys. Directed by Tracie Pang, you will find that Dealer’s Choice is one of those rare comic gems that is hilarious, heartfelt and highly suspenseful.

Dealer’s Choice won the Writers’ Guild Award for Best West End Play and the Evening Standard Award for Best Comedy

SPRING AWAKENING is the explosive, electrifying and exhilarating musical that breaks all the rules of musical theatre. Full of heart, humanity and humour, it tells the tale of a group of teenagers embarking on a turbulent journey of self-discovery, each one experiencing a dramatic psychological/emotional/spiritual/sexual awakening: Meet The Misfit, The Idealist, The Innocent, The Rebel, The Mama’s Boy, The Runaway, The Abused… and for these youths growing up in 1892, the only means of expressing their emotions is music… ROCK MUSIC.

The Broadway production of SPRING AWAKENING was nominated for eleven Tony Awards, winning eight, including Best Musical, while its London production won four Olivier Awards.

And now PANGDEMONIUM! brings you the highly-anticipated Singapore Premiere of this deeply moving, darkly funny, and daringly truthful musical. SPRING AWAKENING will thrill and touch you with its powerful, poignant music and life-affirming story of love and hope.

  • As someone lucky enough to be a regular theatre-goer in Singapore and all around the world, let me declare this: Pangdemonium's TRIBES is the best piece of theatre I have seen in years. Director Tracie Pang has taken on a monumental task and achieved something magnificent: from a supremely challenging and tricky script, she has expertly guided her cast to individually and collectively give honest, nuanced and powerful portrayals, resulting in a stunning ensemble performance; she has also pulled together all the technical aspects of the production and made them organic and alive; and ultimately she has created a piece of story-telling that is on one level a great piece of entertainment, and on a deeper level profoundly resonant in so many ways.

Told with wit, heart and guts, this beautiful production is a very important piece of theatre, and one that will stay with many audience members lucky enough have caught this. Once again, brilliant work, Pangdemonium, simply brilliant.

  • I was blown away. This is an amazing play with powerful performances, stunning set design, and tight, brilliant direction. This riveting play with its troubling themes of deafness in all its forms and how we may hear but not listen is a challenging one to stage and perform but that didn't deter Pangdemonium from offering it as their second play of the 2015 season and I'm glad they did—it's one of the best theatrical productions ever staged here.

Grab your tribe and head down to watch it! Congratulations Adrian and Tracie Pang!

  • We have just seen one of the best performances possible. Stunningly right and truthful. You should be deeply proud of yourselves. It's the kind of experience that vindicates a lifetime of visiting theatres and all the near misses one sees in theatres. It reminds you why it all matters so much.

  • Spent my Sunday evening watching a phenomenal play, Tribes. It was relatable in many ways, thought-provoking and heart-wrenching. As I sat there with my mind a spiderweb of thoughts and feelings, my eyes welled up at all the many breathtaking moments that were presented before me.

Tribes is definitely a play that not only hit the right spot for me but it was also beautifully put together and produced - the elaborate and intricate set, a world class cast, incredible acting and the superb use of music and multimedia. Tribes will be one play that has unquestionably left a mark in my heart.

Thank you Pangdemonium for this magnificent production.

  • Tribes was exquisitely well produced by Pangdemonium and it presented a very gripping, thought-provoking perspective on deaf culture I would not have otherwise known. I relished and lapped up every single detail put onto the stage, from the impeccably elaborate set, the directing and blocking, the fusion of multimedia, and a first for me – sign language translators, who were meticulous with their delivery not just with their hands but with their face and body, emotions pulsing through every movement.

The actors have each poured in so much into their roles and captured all the subtext that needed to be shown. Thank you for this!

  • TRIBES is the most honest piece of theatre I've seen. If you wanna know what good theatre is, then TRIBES is a great case study.

  • Thanks Pangdemonium for the awesome two hours of education and entertainment. Made me rethink about how humans connect with each other, and how deaf my heart can be sometimes, even when I have functioning ears.

    , Wadaszit

Sweet, silent Billy (Thomas Pang) feels like an outsider in his family. Billy, you see, happens to be deaf. Dad (Adrian Pang): first-class academic, world-class ass; Mum (Sue Tordoff): mystery novelist, clueless about the mystery of her own family; Sis (Frances Lee): up-and-coming opera singer in a downtown pub; and Big Brother (Gavin Yap): speech expert, hears voices in his head… your typical dysfunctional, eccentric tribe of bohemian weirdos.

When Billy falls in love with an actual “outsider”, Sylvia (Ethel Yap), his world is turned inside out, and he finally wants to be heard. And what he has to say will ear-shatteringly and heart-breakingly prove that actions really do speak louder than words…

A uniquely humorous and profoundly moving look at the complexities of communicating with the ones you love, Tribes won the 2012 Drama Desk Award for Outstanding Play
