Holiday Workshops

In light of continuing Covid advisories, and to keep all our students safe and occupied, Pangdemonium is delighted to offer two new Holiday Workshop programmes for the Summer break!

Experience working with some of Singapore theatre’s most creative industry professionals! We are delighted to present our holiday workshop, Audition Techniques, for students aged 12 to 16 years old.

This 5-day workshop focuses on a variety of techniques to ace your audition with a different professional every day. We will examine vocal techniques, use of the physicality and the body, tips for selecting the right text for you and how to best present it for an online audition. At the end of the workshop, you will be given the opportunity to record your own self-tape audition. It’s yours to keep!

21 – 25 June or 5 – 9 July 2021
1:30pm – 4:00pm daily

$375 per person (w/GST)

Monday – Selecting a Piece

Join our Very Youthful Company Director, Timothy Koh, and show him the audition pieces you would like to use. Be open to discuss why you chose it and hear why it may or may not be the right choice. Let Timothy advise you on selecting the most appropriate piece. By the end of the session, select the piece you want to work on for the rest of the week!

Tuesday – Using the Voice and Text

Led by Senior LAMDA Tutor, Serene Martin, we look at how the text can lead you in making vocal decisions. By varying pitch, pace and pause along with projection and diction skills, Serene will guide you in using the most out of your voice during the audition, and beat those ‘nerves’!

Wednesday – Creating a Character

Led by theatre actress and youth theatre director, Claire Glenn, we look at how a character can be brought to life through the text. How can we use our body and voice to bring a character to life? It will be a day of movement, so make sure you have ample space!

Thursday – Acting for Camera

Led by television and theatre actress, Sharda Harrison, she will be sharing her techniques for taking the piece in front of the camera, how to transfer the audition piece from ‘live’ to ‘zoom’, and how best to use the camera for an online casting – which is becoming more of a normal method these days.

Friday – The Final Showcase

Timothy returns to watch and comment on your final pieces with some final directions. We will then be filming your audition pieces under the watchful eye of a member of the Pangdemonium Technical Crew. We will have the piece edited and you can add it to your own personal showreel.

Introducing our holiday workshops, A Play In A Week, where students aged 7 to 16 years old get to write, produce and perform their own material with a Pangdemonium twist.

This 5-day workshop focuses on the creation of a drama piece, looking at the different elements that go into the telling of a theatrical story. In studying acting for the stage, students will also learn how to express themselves confidently while taking risks and thinking creatively. At the end of the workshop, students shall produce their own production and receive a shared video performance.
